Cheryl Cole has today begged the nation to stop panning her footy husband, Ashley Cole, say: “I just wish they’d all leave him alone.“
In an emotional chat with friends, the X Factor golden girl claims troublemaker Ashley isn’t as arrogant as many people believe.
Despite the England and Chelsea ace’s uncanny knack of landing in hot water, Cheryl, 25, told pals: “He’s a really soft guy underneath it all. His confidence is taking a real bashing.
“He isn’t very strong and this is doing him no good at all.” Just last month, Ashley, 28, hurled abuse at a female police officer outside a London club while Cheryl was climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief.

Cheryl Cole has recently revealed she is unhappy with her body and constantly battles to maintain her image with ‘silly’ diets and exercise regimes.
The X Factor Judge has admitted she has to ‘watch’ her weight after shrinking down to a tiny size 6, since joining her band Girls Aloud back in 2002.
‘I’m not happy with my body,’ says Cole.
She then admits her famous looks don’t come easy, telling NOW magazine: “I have to watch my weight and put myself through it, trying silly diets or doing stupid gym workouts.“
It’s not the first time the 5ft 3 beauty has stuck it to her own image, previously complaining she can’t bear the sight of her own lushes legs.
