Cheryl Cole has revealed this week that she finds it hard to cope with her reputation as “the nation’s sweetheart“.
The X Factor judge claimed that her increased fame since becoming a talent show judge has overshadowed the fact she still has faults like anybody else.
Speaking exclusively to Hello! Magazine about constantly being in the spotlight, she said: “Oh God, whats all that about?“
“I do struggle with that – the nation’s sweetheart thing – because I don’t really get it. I’m just myself. It’s lovely, though, I can think of worse things to be called – and I have been!” she is quoted as saying.
Cheryl admitted that she appreciates the turnaround in public opinion of her since she was convicted of assaulting a toilet attendant back in 2003.
“I’ve gone from one extreme to the other – I was a bit of a pantomime villain before. But I can feel the difference in people’s attitude towards me wherever I go, I really can. I can feel the love and that’s really nice,” she said.
