After it became public that Cheryl Cole has finally filed divorce papers with the High Court in London earlier this week, the rumour mill has already kicked in that Cheryl is set to leave the UK for a life in the US, where Simon Cowell is supposedly “close” in convincing her to become a judge on his new TV show, The X Factor US.
In the divorce papers, the Girls Aloud singer has cited ‘unreasonable behaviour’ as the grounds for divorce, after Ashley Cole was found out to be cheating on her for the second time, with upto 5 separate women. The generous X Factor judge has even said Ashley can keep the couples £6 million mansion, and doesn’t want a penny of his money, despite reports she was keen on keeping her house.
When Cheryl and Ashley Cole split earlier this year, she jetted right out to Los Angeles and speculation grew that she was house hunting. Rumours then surfaced that Cowell was trying to convince her to join him on the American version of The X Factor, which is due to hit screens for the first time next year.
Now a source has said: “She is very close to signing a deal worth millions with Simon. Ashley has been the major factor holding her back, but now she will be free to pursue her career in America, where Simon is convinced she could become a huge star. He has been trying very hard to get her to sign up for the new show, and will now feel he has a very good chance of getting her to commit.“
Cheryl Tweedy is not the only star who could fill the judging spot though. Other possible names include Mel B, Mariah Carey, Louis Walsh, Kelly Rowland and Kat Deeley.
What do you think? Will Cheryl move out of the UK now there’s nothing holding her back? Should she accept a job on the US X Factor? Comments below please…
