Even when she’s just picked up her first Brit Award, and is on top of the world, Cheryl Cole is not a woman to be messed with.
The gobby Geordie was asked backstage by a reporter if Girls Aloud would be splitting up – just moments after they picked up a gong for Best Single.
But Chezza snarled: “Why would you ask a question like that? We have just won this award voted for by the public. That’s ridiculous.” Furious, she then told the startled interviewer: “You ruined the moment.” And with that, she dragged the rest of the girls away.
Lets hope husband Ashley Cole was still around to cheer up his mad wife. She brought the England & Chelsea star along for support – a rare public appearance by the couple since he played away with hairdresser Aimee Walton this time last year. Ashley looked like he just won the World Cup when his Mrs and Girls Aloud won their award of Best Single. An onlooker said: “He started flinging his arms around and nearly sent all the champagne bottles flying.” It was lucky that the girls – who performed The Promise – were on stage as a five-piece at all.
Kimberley Walsh had earlier collapsed after injuring her leg during rehearsals. A source said: “She tripped up in her huge heels. The pain got too much and she had to hobble off in agony. She was taken for an emergency leg massage and everyone thought she wouldn’t make the show.” Fortunately she did.
After all, she wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of Cheryl…
