Cheryl Cole has always made it clear to her fans and the media that she hates being labelled a WAG – slang for Wives & Girlfriends – because she is not like the other footballer WAGs, who “sponge off their partners”, and generally enjoy a fantastic lifestyle on their partner’s earnings.
Cheryl has argued that she isnt a WAG because she earns just as much money as her cheating footballer husband Ashley Cole – who was banned from driving yesterday. But Cheryl told the press this weekend that she plans to avoid the ‘WAG Circuit’ at this years World Cup in South Africa.
The sexy Girls Aloud singer will be flying in for her husbands matches only, but will arrange visits around her working schedule, mainly The X Factor, which is due to be screened around the time of the World Cup.
A source close to Cheryl explained: ”Cheryl has no interest in the WAG lifestyle. She doesn’t regard herself as one and doesn’t want to behave like one. So she won’t be going to the World Cup for a holiday. She’ll be going as and when Ashley is playing, and her schedule allows, to support him.“
The insider also added that Cheryl Cole is not close to any of the other wives and girlfriends, and spent most of her time during the 2006 world cup with Victoria Beckham. “Cheryl got on well with Posh but they’re not great friends any more so it’s not even like she’s got that incentive to go,” the source said.

Cheryl isn't a wag and she definatly doesn't sponge off of ashley. I really don't understand what kind of person would say that.
