According to Nielsen who provide online sales research, Airplay and Online Buzz around Cheryl Cole was massive the week she performed Fight For This Love on The X Factor.
Cheryl Cole’s single, Fight For This Love – which became the fastest selling single of the year – sold 221,031 downloads the week after Cole appeared on the Sunday evening program, far ahead of the number 2 placed Bad Boys singer Alexandra Burke, who sold 145,320 copies.
When we consider the percentage of increased sales after an appearance on The X Factor, Shakira’s ‘Did It Again’ tops the chart, with 358% increased sales, followed by Michael Buble’s ‘Cry Me a River’ with 323% increased sales.
Despite these high numbers, when we look at radio airplay, Cheryl Cole’s Fight For This Love definitely beats the lot, with a massive 3,082 plays on UK radio in the 7 days after she appeared on X Factor.
So as we said, Cheryl Cole was the only real winner when it comes to The X Factor this year, at least when we consider airplay and single sales.
