Insiders at The X Factor have said that celebrity judge Cheryl Cole is the only person to get a pay rise this year. Cheryl is expected to land a deal which will see her salary for appearing on the hit ITV talen show rise by a massive 34% according to a report in The People.
The Girls Aloud babe, who was reportedly earned £820,000 for her debut year at the show last year, and is expected to earn a mega-£1.1 million to resume her role on the judging panel.
X Factor presenter Dermot O’Leary is expected to face a pay cut, and only Simon Cowell, who has already signed a ‘golden handcuffs’ deal will be safe from the proposed cuts.
A source inside ITV has said: “Cheryl will be the only person to come out of this with more money. She’s the golden girl – everything will be done to keep her.“
Sources have claimed that Dannii Minogue, who also asked for a pay rise, will be disappointed as ITV bosses say they have been forced to make cutbacks to save the channel. A recent report in the Daily Mirror claimed that Cowell had offered to pay her the same salary as Cheryl to ensure that she will return to The X Factor.
An insider said: “She feels she has been a bit redundant but Simon pleaded with her to stay and has offered her a much more lucrative deal, doubling her £500,000 fees to £1million.”
The source added: “Dannii is very excited and can’t wait to sign on the dotted line.“
