Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole has reportedly decided to ditch plans to relaunch her career in America. The pop star recently announced she planned on a ‘temporary split‘ from Girls Aloud to focus on her solo career. Reports were made that she wanted to launch that solo career in the US.
However friends of The X Factor babe told a glossy mag that Cheryl has said she will stay in the UK, and that her husband Ashley Cole is pleased by her change of heart. An insider said: “Ashley’s delighted that Cheryl’s given up any plans to rival Victoria Beckham in the US. He wants them to try for children as soon as possible.“
Cheryl recently signed her contract to return to this years series of The X Factor with a bumper pay deal worth £2.1 million. The 25-year-old singer will see her salary rise this year from £820,000 to an enormous £1.1 million, plus she has signed a golden handcuffs deal with an additional £1 million to remain ‘the property’ of ITV. This means she will be hosting more shows at ITV.
Producers at ITV are said to be considering using Cheryl in a number of prime time shows. The insider added: “They’re discussing whether Cheryl should host a chat show. But they also know the void left by Cilla Black’s in light entertainment has never really been filled. Basically, they want her to become the Queen of ITV.“
