The much-publicised Haiti Charity Single ‘Everybody Hurts’ which was organized by music mogul Simon Cowell has only been on sale for two days, but it’s already become the fastest-selling single of the last 100 years.
Everybody Hurts, a song originally sung by REM has sold 200,000 copies so far and has already became the biggest first-week sales of any song since the year 2000. 21 artists in total took part in the charity single, including Leona Lewis, Cheryl Cole, JLS, Miley Cyrus, Robbie Williams, Take That and many more.
All the money raised from the Help Haiti – Everybody Hurts charity single will go to helping the victims of the Haiti earthquake, which has killed thousands of people, and left millions without a home, food, or water.
“For it to sell over 100,000 copies in a day or two underlines once again the generosity of the U.K. and Irish public when called upon to help others,” HMV spokesperson Gennaro Castaldo said, according to Digital Spy.
I have personally bought a copy of the single, have you??? What did you think of the song? Leave us a comment below…
