Joe McElderry wants his former X Factor mentor Cheryl Cole to teach him how to dance.

The 18-year-old will soon be recording his debut album and revealed that he's hoping to record uptempo songs instead of dull ballads.

"I'd like there to be fast tracks on the album as I like a dance," 'The Climb' singer told the Daily Star.

As for working with the Girls Aloud star, McElderry added: "Cheryl's an amazing dancer so I'm sure she could teach me a few moves."

Last weekend Joe performed a Live Lounge session at Radio 1's Big Weekend, singing acoustic versions of Lady Gaga's 'Telephone' and Journey's 'Don't Stop Believin'.

Grow up Joe, your a solo popstar, not part of a boyband.

Solo male artists dont dance while they sing. They just look down the camera, smile and sing, and generally be this "sex god" for the adoring female fans.

And you damn well knew that already, didn't you Joe? Utilising a bit of the Vickers Tactics are we? Do a bit of name-dropping in interviews to get a bit of press.

He just shouldn't dance. He doesn't need too. He's not in a boyband. You don't see Robbie Williams dancing do you? All he needs to do is look cute, and sing. The screaming girls will do the rest.

But still, maybe he'd get more fans IF he danced more? Make him more interesting..

And... since Joe and Cheryl are close.. maybe it would be a good thing if Cheryl helps out Joe. Might take her mind off of personal issues?

I think she has enough on her plate already, doesn't she. Not only does X Factor filming kick off in a few weeks, she needs to finalise divorce, she's on tour, she could be going to x factor us.

And personally, I don't think Cheryl has that  same connection with Joe that she does with Alexandra. She has helped Alexandra a lot, whereas Joe, has mainly been left to his own devices with Simon Cowell.

I defo get the feeling Cheryl is more for Alex than she is for Joe. Probably because Alex helped her win the show in her debut year, and is a girl - they can talk about girly stuff, go out on the town. She can't really do all of that with Joe.
