Part 9 [hide]
A week later Cheryl had to take Megan to a nursery, to have a look around, but to Cheryl's horror Megan had told Ashley all about it, so when Cheryl picked her up, from his house, he asked to come, and as Megan was there she could hardly say no, could she, so here they where in total silence on the way to a nursery.
“Daddy, can you come home yet?” She asked as she sat in the back seat with a dummy in her mouth, Ashley looked at Cheryl “Not yet babe, uncle Luke still needs him” Cheryl replied, knowing that she now called the shots (I had to lol) “Well, I don't like uncle Luke” She sighed “Why not?” Ashley asked “Cos he took you off us” She moaped, again Ashley looked at Cheryl, taking his eyes off the road once more as he drove “Watch what you're doing” Cheryl pointed to the front window, and Ashley obeyed “Well, that's because, he needs your daddy at the moment” she replied “But mummy” She sobbed “Megs, don't cry it's okay” Ashley tried to soothe her, also trying to make Cheryl the guilty one “Baby, it's okay?” she chipped in “Mummy” She sighed “What's wrong” She askedS, turning around in her seat to look at Megan, who pushed her arms out for a hug, “Hang on, I'll hug you when we get out okay?” She asked “Yeah a special mummy hug” Megan moped “Yes baby, a special mummy hug” Cheryl smiled as Megan dropped her arms “Megan, what's wrong?” Ashley looked at her through his mirror, again taking his eyes off the road, when suddenly everything stopped and went black.......
Cheryl's eyes flickered open, laying in a bed “She's awake” She heard a voice call, Cheryl tried to move but couldn't “Mrs Cole, you where in a car accident, you're going to be okay now though, you have no internal beading, you just came away with a few cuts and bruises, you're in hospital and you're going to be okay” A nurse explained “Where's my baby, where's Megan?” She finally managed to find the words to speak “Mr Cole is with her now” The nurse told her “Can I see her please?” She asked “Not yet, lets just get you cleaned up first” another nurse answered, as she began wiping the side of her face, she felt blood trickling down “Please, I need to see my little girl?” She asked again, with tears beginning to stream down her face as she panicked to where she was and what state she would be in, one nurse looked at another and nodded, Cheryl's heart skipped beats as she panicked more and more “We'll take you down to see her now, she's unconscious, but stable, and were doing the best we can, to keep her that way or regain consciousness, she may be able to hear you so do please talk to her, and make sure she knows she's with you and safe” a nurse told her “Okay, and Ashley's with her now?” She asked as the nurses moved her from the bed to a wheelchair “Yes, she has Mr Cole with her, her father?” The nurse asked “Yeah” Cheryl replied, wiping away her tears...
When they reached Megan's room Ashley was sat by her bed, holding her hand, as she lay, wired up to machines, Cheryl felt her heart break again, as she watched her little baby daughter fight for her life, and there was nothing she could do to help her, the nurse sat her wheelchair next to Ashley, right now Cheryl didn't care that she had to talk to Ashley, just as long as she was with her daughter, the nurses then left the couple to talk to Megan alone “Mummy's here now baby” Ashley told Megan, Cheryl lifted up her arm and placed it on Megan's head, brushing her fingers through her hair “Yeah mummy's hear now” She sighed, a bit shaky, Ashley took Cheryl's free hand with his, without talking to each other. The couple now needed each other the most and so did Megan “Baby, you're gonna be okay, you know, you're not near any water and you're gonna be fine, you're just asleep” Cheryl tried to continue talking but ended up breaking down, so Ashley shuffled himself closed to her and pulled her in for a hug, though she didn't know where her and Ashley where heading, she needed that hug so much, and it was so meaningful, she slowly pulled her hand from Megan's head and rested it on Ashley's chest she cried “See Megs, mummy's crying happy tears now, because were all hear” Ashley told her, he didn't want Megan worrying, as she couldn't talk, so he just reassured her anyway “It's all gonna be okay now baby, you've just got a bit of a cold, but when you wake up, you'll get better, and be our happy little girl again” Ashley continued to reassure little Megan, when suddenly there was a knock at the door, Kimberley and Nicola walked in as Cheryl and Ashley pulled away “I'm off to get a coffee, I'll leave you four girls, do you want anything?” He whispered to Cheryl, she just shook her head, how could she enjoy a nice relaxing cup of tea when her daughter was fighting for life like this?...
“Aaw babe, come here” Kimberley pulled Cheryl in for a hug “Megan, it's Kimberley and Nicola here to see you, but don't worry you just sleepin baby” Nicola held her hand, as she watched her sleep, the constant beeping of the machines running through her head, with the sound of Cheryl's faint crying in the background as she looked at the poor innocent little girl, laying before her, “Shh it's gonna be okay” Kimberley reassured Cheryl “But I cant do anything, I cant even help” she cried more “But you're hear for her and she knows that, yeah?” Kimberley asked “Yeah” Cheryl wiped her eyes as she looked up at her best friend “Thank you” She said, slowly as she watched Nicola talking to Megan...

“Mummy, daddy noo” Megan laughed as Cheryl and Ashley tickled her as she lay on their bed, after waking them up one morning “Zoom Zoom” She called, her arms spread out as Ashley ran around the garden with her on his shoulders, Buster and Coco chasing each other around his feet “Again mummy” Megan asked for her favourite book for about the third time that night as she and Cheryl lay in her bed together “Again?” Cheryl giggled “Yeah again” Megan cheered “Go on then we'll have this one agian” She laughed, kissing Megan on the head “Go to mummy then” Ashley lent over to allow Cheryl to take her from his arms “Night night mummy and daddy” Megan yawned as she lay in bed, dosing off with her little pink dummy in her mouth “Night night baby” Cheryl smiled “Aaw Night princess” Ashley replied, running his fingers through her hair, Cheryl walked into the living room when in mid-sentence she realised that Ashley and Megan had fallen asleep together on the sofa, so she got the duvet and tucked them in together “Love you mummy” Megan lent forward and kissed Cheryl on the nose, as Cheryl held her up in the air “Nic Nic” Megan laughed and clapped as Nicola held her on her hip at the beach “You coming too Kimmi” She asked as she sat in her pink buggy, eating her favourite pink ice cream, with Kimberley sitting next to her “Mummy” She laughed as Cheryl tickled her “Mummy loves you lots and lots and lots” Cheryl pulled Megan towards her and kissed her, “Love you too mummy” Megan smiled happily.

Cheryl suddenly awoke at Megan's bedside realising that she had just dreamt about all those lovely memories she had shared with Megan and Ashley, turning to her left Ashley was sitting up gaising out of the window, they both just stopped and listened to those beeps on the machine, hoping that it would keep beeping, for ever and ever “You okay?” She asked, deciding she'd better break the silence “I just want Megan back” He whispered “Me to” She looked at Ashley, as a tear rolled down her cheek, “I just want our little girl back” He repeated, “Come here” This time, she offered the hug, he wrapped his arms loosely around her neck and burred his head in her neck “She's a little fighter” She whispered “Just like her mummy” He added, trying to to get too chocked up “We just need to be here for her” He continued “We are” She sighed “Both of us” She continued as they hugged, a bit tighter......

Next morning,Cheryl awoke after having the same dream again, Ashley was still sat beside her, she found his arm wrapped around her waist “What did you dream about?” He asked, knowing that she had a bad dream as she wasn't sleeping right “Megs” She quiet simply replied, she so desperately wanted to pull away from his hug, but she just couldn't do it. She felt really bad for lying to Megan about the whole mummy and daddy not living together situation. She just wanted everything to be back to normal again, but it wasn't and it wouldn't be for a while, Cheryl and Ashley needed to talk and sort things out between them, at the moment they where just comforting each other and forgetting about all their problems, but it wasn't going to be like this for ever. “Does she know where not together?” Ashley asked, as he twisted his wedding ring around his finger “No, I just told her your brother needs you” She replied, still looking at Megan “Cheryl, we need to talk” He plucked up the courage to tell her “What about?” She asked “You know, what about” He replied “About how your wife isn't good enough? About the fact that you don't care what you've done to your daughter, or the fact that you're to greedy and just seem to think about yourself? Take your pic Ashley” She told him, turning to look at him “Please, I don't want to argue, she might hear us” He pointed out “Ashley, I thought you loved me, us” She asked “I do” He told her “Well, why did you go off then?” She asked “Babe I all ready told you, I cant remember what happened can I?” Ashley replied “Well, that's what you keep on saying, but this woman doesn't seem to think so” She moaned “Think about it, I was drunk, I probably couldn't anyway, you know what I'm like when I've had a drink” He told her “I don't want to talk about it” Cheryl finally found the courage to pull away “Megan needs us now anyway” She sighed, taking Megan's hand, as atmosphere filled the room, Cheryl watched her daughter hoping that her eyes would just open, but of course they didn't.
Later that day Cheryl looked out of the window, to see loads of paparazzi hanging around, they just wanted to know what was going on, with the couple and Megan. Stories had surfaced that they where comforting each other and had even shared a passionate kiss, though they hadn't. A nurse from another ward sold a story that she had walked in on them kissing, by Megan's bedside, but she soon got the sack for breaching patient confidentiality rules by saying that Megan was on life support. The stories about Megan and the couple where all over every newspaper and magazine going, and now the whole world knew that the little girl was fighting for life in hospital, though they didn't know the whole story.
Outside Cheryl saw a few girls arrive at the hospital with flowers and a card, they placed them on the floor outside the window of Megan's room, to show support, but it felt like Megan had died with the flowers on the floor, so Cheryl got a nurse to go and get the two girls so they could bring the card and flowers in to her, she never really did this but they where young and if they where Cheryl's daughters she would want to make them happy, so she thought she'd let them meet her, just these two. She walked out of Megan's room, leaving her with Ashley, and went down to the reception, she had no make up on, but looked stunning, she was in jeans, uggs and a baggy grey jumper with her hair pulled up in a ponytail, but she didn't care. The girls walked in holding the flowers and card, with the nurse. The three of them sat down, before the nurse left them to it, no one really knew what to say “Here you go, we hope Megan gets better soon, we really do” One of the girls handed the flowers to Cheryl, they where pinks and reds, and smelt lovely, it was a huge bunch and must have cost a lot, “Aaw thank you girls” Cheryl tried to smile, as she thought of Megan. “And a card too, we got loads of fans to write messages in it for you” The second girl told her “Thank you, god love the fans ay?” She told them “Were all thinking of you, Megan and Ashley” The first girl replied “Thank you, and before I have to go, please girls, don't believe any thing you read about this whole situation.” She told them, the two 16 year old brunettes agreed “And I just want to ask you one thing?” Cheryl began “Let the fans know I am truly thank full and also could you tell them not to believe the papers too?” She asked again the girls agreed, before they all hugged, letting Cheryl get back to Megan. She decided that instead of doing a statement she'd tell the fans to pass on the message, as it would be less hassle and she wouldn't have to face the public.
When Cheryl arrived back to Megan's room, she found Ashley, crying out side, her mind began racing with horrible thoughts “What's going on?” She asked, feeling herself well up “The machines went off and the nurses are in there now, trying to... well I don't know, trying to save her” He cried more, Cheryl sat next to him, her mind proccesing what she had just heard “She'll pull through though wont she?” Cheryl asked but there was no reply “Wont she?” She cried, Ashley took her hand in his, gripping in tightly “Come on, let's not think like that she'll be okay” He continued to cry, as did she, pulling her into a hug, they didn't want to let go, there world had just come tumbling down, and there was absolutely nothing they could do, but sit and wait, crying as they did so.....................
