Hi,

Welcome to the Girls Aloud Forum! This thread gives you some basics on getting around the forum, knowing how the forum works so you can use it as intended. If you need anymore help that is not covered in this thread, please leave a reply in this thread and one of us will help.

1. I'm new, where can I say hello to everybody?

Firstly welcome to our forum. We have an introductions category to the forum where you can leave your first post on the forum. We're a friendly bunch, so come and say hello, tell us a little about yourself. Introduce Yourself

2. How do I get a picture to display beside my posts like you?

You may add an avatar to your account by clicking here to edit your profile. At the top of the page you will see three options to add an avatar. 1. Choose from Gallery, 2. Upload Avatar by URL, 3. Upload an Avatar.

If you have your own picture you'd like to use, simply use the Upload an Avatar feature. Alternatively, we have an extensive collection of avatars ready-to-use by using the Choose from Gallery option. Big thanks to W33dgirl for providing us with amazing avatars.

3. How Do I add a picture to a post.

The easiest way to attach an image is to go to the reply page, just below the post box is an 'Additional Options' link. Click it and it will open out some more options. Click on the Choose button and select the image you want to upload from your computers hard drive. Once you have done that, finish writing your post, click the save button and the image will automatically upload to this website.

You can also use an image you have found elsewhere on the internet, without directly uploading it to our website like in the previous example. When you have found an image on the internet that you would like to insert, right click on the image and click the 'copy image address' link. Then come back to the forum, and place the blinking cursor where you want your image to appear in your post.

Then just above the post box where all the smilies, the bold, italics, underlined buttons etc are, there is a button to insert an image. It's just under the Italics button. Click it and in the popup box, right click and paste the link that you copied earlier.

4. How do I add a signature graphic to my account?

Head over to he edit your profile area of the forum and you'll see a signature box mid-way down the page. Simply enter your desired signature in there. Add any text you like.

If you want to add an image, you need to use this format (minus the quotes) "url to image

Please note: You will need to remove the gaps from between the [ ] - (I had to post it with a gap otherwise it would have not shown up in this post).

5. How do I start a thread or reply to a thread?

To start your own topic on the forum, simply navigate to the correct category of the website, then at the top right hand side of the page above all the other posts, there will be a 'New Topic' link. Click that, in the page that appears enter a title, the contents of your post and click the post button at the bottom of the page.

To reply to a thread, its much the same thing. Navigate to a post you want to reply on. Click on the 'Reply' link, or alternatively, scroll to the bottom of the page, where there will be a quick-reply box. Enter your reply in the box, click post and your done!

6. How do I quote somebody?

If you would like to quote somebody in a reply from a thread you are currently reading, simply click on the 'Quote' button which appears to the top right hand side of every post on the forum. It will take you to a page where your quote will be inserted and you can enter your own reply.

It does kinda explain why we have a lot of people sign up who don't leave a single post on their account.
