X Factor contenders Matt Cardle and Katie Waissel have made up after a row in which he branded her "a fame hungry t***".

Matt launched the foul-mouthed attack last week when the pair fell out after it was reported that Katie had claimed they were having a fling.

But show insiders said they sat down on Tuesday to clear the air and vowed to move on.

Katie, from Harewood, Hertfordshire, has been criticised for her ambitious attempts to break into the music industry which have seen her sign a record deal, record a jazz album and appear in an online reality show before starring in The X Factor.

The 24-year-old has also had to face rumours about her health with reports suggesting that she may not be well enough to continue in the hit ITV1 talent show.

An X Factor spokeswoman said: "Katie is absolutely fine and will be performing this weekend."

Eccentric Brazilian Wagner is the 2/1 favourite to be booted out this weekend followed by Treyc Cohen at 5/2 and Katie at 3/1
