Tonight, the prayers of half of the country were answered, as Irish twins John and Edward or ‘Jedward‘ were booted out of The X Factor, in a result which shocked everybody.
Most people expected Jedward to get the boot this weekend, but the real shock came in the form of Olly Murs appearing in the bottom two. And for the fourth week running, Lloyd Daniels managed to escape the axe, as bookies predicions proved wrong.
With Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh unsurprisingly voting to save their own acts, the choice was left to Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue.
Cheryl told the Grimes twins that she would miss them, while Dannii asked to clarify whether the show was a “singing competition” before giving the result which should have happened weeks ago. Jedward to leave the show! Simon also said he would miss the boys if they left the competition tonight.
Jedward sung a rendition of Boyzone’s No Matter What, which really showed how bad their voices were. The song meant it was ‘just’ them, standing there, singing a song without the whole production going on around them to distract the public. And the song really did show how terrible they are.
Olly Murs sang a pitch-perfect rendition of Eric Clapton’s Wonderful Tonight, which was enough to get him through until next weeks show.
So was the correct result given this evening folks? Did Jedward deserve to go, and should Olly Murs have been in the bottom two? Leave your comment below…
