For weeks now, there has been speculation on who The X Factor finalists will be performing alongside in the final this week.
There were wild rumours that Joe McElderry Will Sing With Girls Aloud, which later turned out to be untrue. But now we have it confirmed that Sir Paul McCartney and George Michael have both agreed to appear on The X Factor Final.
Each of the remaining contestants, Joe McElderry, Stacey Soloman and Olly Murs will get to sing with one of the celebrities. Cowell has supposedly managed to convince the music legends to make an appearance and is hoping to find a third star for the final.
According to the Sunday Mirror, Cowell is hoping Coldplay frontman Chris Martin will make an appearance, but this is purely speculation at this point. An insider from The X Factor reportedly told the national tabloid: “After last year’s duets with Beyoncé, Boyzone and Westlife he knew he had to pull out all the stops to make this year’s even better.“
Cheryl Cole and her contestant Joe McElderry are still the bookies favourite to win the competition with odds of 4/1 right now. Simon Cowell also confirmed this week that he’s chosen Miley Cyrus‘ smash hit, The Climb as the winners single, which has angered Olly Murs and Danyl Johnson.
A source told The Sun: “Olly and Danyl have just given up on winning the show, they have thrown in the towel. They hate the song so both of them just look defeated. They realise Simon now wants Joe and Stacey in the final as it only really suits them.“
I completely agree with Olly and Danyl here. The Climb is a big ballad, and will only suit Stacey Soloman and Joe McElderry’s voice. It will sound very odd for Olly or Danyl to be singing the track.
What do you guys think? I personally love The Climb, and think it will make a great winners single.
