The former Girls Aloud star has filed lawsuit against the producers of The X Factor USA after she was fired from the show from the judging panel in 2011, claiming that they owed her millions in compensation and other benefits. Cheryl was fired from the show after appearing for just a few auditions.
Cheryl, 30, who was originally appointed as judge for the singing talent show, was later replaced by former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger. The Call My Name singer insisted that the X Factor USA producers owe her more than £1 million in fees and other £200,000 in unpaid expenses and interest on the whole amount.
In recent months, Cheryl and Simon have mended their severed relationship by talking to each other, after she stopped communicating with him since her departure from the show. However, despite renewing their friendship, Cheryl is very keen in continuing her lawsuit and it was reported that even Simon could be summoned as a witness.
So, Simon urged Cheryl to drop the charges as the lawsuit could make appear as “greedy”, according to insiders.
Stakes are high in this case and legal costs could go up as high as £3.5 million, if the producers lose the case. But things won’t be rosy for Cheryl either, as she too, could face a whooping £1 million is legal fees and liable for other related costs of the other party if she loses.
