UK satallite broadcaster Sky has closed an exclusive deal to broadcast concerts by Girls Aloud and Madonna, it was revealed yesterday. Sky has announced the deal which will give them the exclusive rights to broadcast Madonna and Girls Aloud’s most recent tours in both standard and high definition.
Girls Aloud: Out of Control Live from the O2 will be broadcast on Sky 1 & Sky 1 HD in August and Madonna: Sticky & Sweet will be broadcast on Sky 1 & Sky 1 HD in July.
The Madonna broadcast will offer a special 15-minute behind the scenes film, as well as music from the apparently record-breaking tour, recorded at Buenos Aires’ River Plate Stadium in December 2008.
The Girls Aloud Concert was recorded more recently – in May 2009 – and comprises “a selection of their greatest hits from the last seven years and songs from their latest studio album“.
Sky says fans who subscribe to Sky HD will be able to see Madonna and Girls Aloud “up close and personal in glorious high definition for the first time“, and for those with swanky home entertainment systems, be able to hear them Dolby 5.1 surround sound.
