Police in Tunbridge Wells have confirmed they arrested a 17-year-old teenager in connection with alleged rape-threats against X Factor judge Cheryl Cole.
An investigation was launched in March after Dermot O’Leary alerted police to a sexually threatening voice message which was left on his mobile phone directly targeting his co-star, Cheryl.
Dermot stars alongside the Girls Aloud singer on TV talent show, The X Factor.
A City of London police spokesman said: “A 17-year-old boy from Tunbridge Wells has been arrested on suspicion of malicious communication. The boy has been released on bail.“
Cheryl Cole was alerted to the threat back in march, but apparently refused to listen to it.
Security for The X Factor judges were increased in 2008 after a security scare when tracking devices was put on Simon Cowell’s Rolls Royce. More news when we have it.
