One third of Cheryl Cole’s finalists, who happens to be a huge hit with the girls, Lloyd Daniels, thinks that his audition was fate.
He impressed Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh with his first audition, battled through boot camp, and sung his heart out at the judges houses phase of the competition.
But for Lloyd, he very nearly didn’t attend auditions this year. He initially applied for the ITV talent show through The X Factor website, but when he didn’t hear back from them, he accepted he’d have to wait another 12 months. But the young heartthrob went along anyway to support his step-dad, but he was lucky enough to register on the day.
Lloyd sailed through the first live show last Saturday, singing a version of Justin Timberlakes’ Cry Me A River, getting top marks from the judges.
Lloyd commented on being part of The X Factor last night: “It all seems very surreal that I’m here in the final 12 when i almost didn’t audition. I was really gutted when i didn’t get a reply letter asking me to audition so it was lucky that they let me audition anyway. I really believe it’s fate.“
Lisa Daniels, 41 is Lloyd’s mother recently said: “Carl practically had to drag Lloyd out of bed to go with him and keep him company. He’s not very good in the mornings and was feeling disappointed that he hadn’t been invited to audition so he really didn’t want to go. It just so happened they were letting people register on the day so Carl managed to persuade him to sign up – and look where he is now.“
Although Lloyd Daniels seems to be a natural on stage, he hasn’t always been so confident in his own singing abilities.
“He was always very shy and only really started to come out of himself in the last few years,” said Lloyd’s mum. “He knows he was talented but didn’t show it off. His teachers used to have to persuade him to perform in school concerts as they knew he had a sweet voice but he didn’t really want to. He would often sing for friends and family but only started doing karaoke when he got older – his favourite song for years was Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On.“
Another reason Lloyd didn’t expect to audition this year was because he intended to start college, with the possibility of studying architecture or accountancy, but mum Lisa said it’s unlikely he’ll ever go back to that now.
“He won’t want to do anything other than singing now he’s had a taste of it, he’s very strong willed so even if he doesn’t win The X Factor, I’m sure he’ll make it one way or another.“
