OK, we all know that our very own Joe McElderry is likely to win The X Factor this weekend. Both our new authors, Sophie Smith and Hannah Goodall has pointed it out, as have i over recent weeks. But the latest gossip released is the X Factor front-runner is receiving over 500 bets per minute with the bookies.
Each year the bookies have a fairly good idea of who will win the show, but reports are saying that this year, Joe is the hottest-tipped favourite to win in the shows entire history, according to bookmakers William Hill.
The betting company revealed they’ve already taken a record number of bets on the Geordie totalling more than £1 million pounds. Currently William Hill is offering odds of 7/1 that a record of over 20 million people will tune in to see the final, and the winner is 20/1 to have FOUR or more number one singles in 2010.
Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams said: “We are seeing unprecedented interest in the X factor markets and expect to smash all records over the weekend. If Joe wins the industry will pay out millions.“
What do you think about this gossip? Is the winner (whoever it is) likely to have FOUR number one singles in 2010?
Before answering that question, just bare in mind that since Alexandra Burke won last year, she’s only had two number one singles, so the prediction that this years winner could have four seems a bit far-fetched, but what do you think? Leave a comment below…
