Cheryl Cole is already a TV darling since landing a spot as judge on popular ITV talent sh0w, The X Factor, but now BBC bosses want to get Cheryl on board the Tardis – in Doctor Who.
Cheryl is being lined-up for a spot in the new Doctor Who series, according to reports leaked today. Cheryl, 26, could follow in the footsteps of singer-turned-actress Billie Piper and comedian Catherine Tate, by landing a spot in the fifth series of Dr Who.
The Fight For This Love singer, who is currently riding high after her debut solo single, and album have reached the number one spot in the charts. Cheryl said of her achievement: “I’m just getting over the fact I have recorded my first solo record and it’s number one. I can’t take this all in. It’s hard for me to put into words how I feel. I have this permanent smile on my face.“
No deal has been signed over the Doctor Who rumours, but executives for the BBC show think Cheryl could play a big part in the new series. An insider at the show said: “If she can find the time, a part will be written for her.“
Do I personally think Cheryl Cole will snatch a role on Dr Who? No, is the answer to that. Why? Because earlier this year, Cheryl Cole signed a £2.2 million golden handcuffs deal, which prevent her from working on any rival channel to ITV.
It’s also important to note that Cheryl is one of ITV’s biggest stars alongside the likes of Simon Cowell, so ITV will fight any bids to snatch her from their rivals.
